Bob Angel of Simply Country reviews ‘Unbroken’

I have been playing Helena’s music for some time now, but I have to say this is a real triumph for Helena.

“Unbroken is an album about love, heartache, troubles in life and coming through the other side”
I say it’s a story of one person’s struggle to maintain a life where they can live and do the things they love.

“Hometown” just feels you with happiness for just being where you love to be.

“I’ll never let you down” is a song about loyalty and strength and just being there whenever your needed.

“This Time” is full of wonder and maybe a wish too!

“Save it for another day” if you listen to this track and it does not strike a chord with you, I would be surprised because we all have memories of this that we wish we could have done different. I just love the harmony of her voice and the harmonica with a sight depth of echo on Helena voice

“Come on home” A wish for better things if you were together again.

“Unbroken” Title Track this track means a lot to me personally as I sort of know the story behind it, and why Helena is such a special performer. But it can easily apply to anyone who has struggled against the odds and was able to shine though.

“As the Sun Sets” Great guitar picking and such a haunting melody and vocals from Helena, just a treat for the ears.

“Runaround” a song that we can all relate to of the sadness of lost love and wanting so hard to keep your feet on the ground in a stable relationship

“Take me away” the dream of being longed for and to be whisked away in the arms of your lover, a true modern love song.

“Tangled up” makes you remember when you felt like you did not know what was up and what was down and what the best thing to do was and were you just chasing dreams.

“Unbroken” a Piano arrangement shows off such a beautiful melody and complements Helena’s voice.

To me the album has really shown what Helena can do and how much she has gained in vocal professionalism and just how she has blossomed over the past year, especially in these troubled times, this is an album of the story of everyone’s life at one time or another.

My tip: Listen to it with a glass of a really nice wine and enjoy the wine and drink in the sentiment and feelings behind the music.
Go out and buy it you won’t be disappointed.
